The Mission of the Flathead County Library Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization, is to enhance and support the programs, facilities and patron services of the Flathead County Library System through fundraising and acceptance of charitable gifts.
The Flathead County Library Foundation, a 501 c (3) 81-0460195 tax-exempt organization, was formed by community supporters of the library system in 1989. The Foundation works closely with the County Library Board, appointed by the Flathead County Commission, and the library system director to provide special programming, purchases, and materials not included in the library budget. The summer reading program for children, The Big Read, furnishings, and equipment have been made possible by donor gifts to the Foundation.
The Foundation’s assets have grown over the years with the addition of memorials, tributes, designated gifts, and bequests. It has also had an annual appeal for many years. Since 2010, “Loud at the Library”, a popular late winter social event, has raised additional funds for library support. The response to these efforts from library friends has been very enthusiastic. The Foundation hopes to encourage gifts from new donors who recognize the importance of vibrant libraries in the lives of children and adults in the Flathead area.
